Members of the public and the media are invited to attend a luncheon with Senate Republican Whip Fern Shubert, candidate for NC Governor, & Senator Hugh Webster on Thursday, April 22nd, from 11:30am till 2pm at the University Club in Durham.

"I am happy to extend my support and my endorsement to Senator Fern Shubert." Senator Webster said. "I've worked closely with her in the Senate and I know that she is the best solution for the problems facing our great state. She is the best candidate to face Mike Easley this year." Senator Webster will expound upon the reasons for his endorsement at the meeting.

Senator Shubert will speak on the need for more accountability in state government, what must be done to bring more quality jobs to North Carolina, and how we can reduce illegal immigration to our state. Issues of improving education and roads will also be discussed.

"People are getting the clear impression that there is something very wrong in our state government from the new scandals each week." Senator Shubert said. "We need a Governor with the right priorities, the political will, and the accounting skills to clean up our state government."

The University Club is located at 3100 Tower Blvd, in Durham across from the old South Square shopping area. Meals at the event cost $12.50 per person and contributions are encouraged but not mandatory.

This event is being sponsored and hosted by Charlotte Woods and Betty Lehr. More information is available at and by calling toll free 1-877-GOV-FERN.
